Bristol Women of the world (Wow) is a Tribe of Doris project.
Wow is a group of diverse women from different backgrounds, cultures and ages and we welcome ALL women. We meet usually once a month, hold exhibitions, organise outings to the theatre, cinema and dancing. It provides a friendly, social space for women to network, share skills, connect, collaborate and have fun. Most events are women only, children welcome but boys under 12 years only. With the kind support of partners Coexist we have free use of space for our meeting and events at Hamilton House and a group of hard working willing volunteers who help organise/facilitate and attend various Wow events.
Wow Cultural Feast: Sat 23rd January 2016 a sharing of perspectives from different cultural communities around mental health, through performances, conversations, food and film we explore how to tackle stigma, discrimination and isolation as well as positive strategies to maintain continuous good mental health. The afternoon format is two short performance pieces that explore stereotypes as well as strategies that work and those that don’t. Each piece will be followed by small group discussions to explore the highlighted issues, share stories and personal experiences. FOOD is good for all our health, so we will provide a free delicious hot meal at 6pm and invite you to bring a favourite savoury or sweet snack to share. From 7pm to 8pm we will be screening a number of short films followed by a Q & A. The event is free and women only. The subject matter however may not be suitable for young children, so parental guidance recommended. Please book so can ensure we have enough food for everyone by emailing email@example.com
