The Barakad: The Trials of Mai the Moor

The Barakad is a powerful African story, delivered with exquisit and legendary storytelling from Sola Adebiyi. This is a rare opportunity to witness a truly captivating myth delivered by a master African storyteller.

Also known as KuuM’ba, Sola grew up in a Yoruba household and learned stories and proverbs from his family. These became the ‘root soil’ to his relational approach for storytelling which serves as inspiration for creative and dynamic personal investigation.

The Barakad is presented as part of Black History Month and forms part of CoResist’s Rights of Nature, Rights of the Human season.

NOTE: This performance is just over 1hr and finishes soon after 9pm (Facebook won’t allow alteration to the ‘end time’)
