Date(s) - Sat 24 September
9:30 am - 5:30 pm
The all day festival organised by Bristol based shark saving group Fin Fighters will be held at the M-Shed. This unique gathering will bring together some of the leading lights in the world of shark and ray conservation to celebrate some of the planets most misunderstood and important creatures.
But that’s not all…the fish filled day will be painted with the work of artists, surfers, underwater photographers and film makers whose efforts will be exhibited throughout the venue. The day will also play host to over 30 stalls and activities for the whole family as well as a program of incredible speakers; ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Activities include a masterclass from Frogfish Photography, a citizen shark science workshop with Fin Fighters, and presentations from producers of the recent hit BBC documentary series Shark, along with many other demonstrations and talks from experts throughout the day. The finale of the event will be a screening of David Diley’s award winning documentary Of Shark & Man and also its UK premiere!
Sharkfest will also be promoting Fin Fighters recent ground-breaking Shark Fin Free campaign in Bristol, which over the last year has gathered the support and signatures of over 7,000 Bristol residents. After the festival Fin Fighters will be presenting this petition to the Bristol council asking them to condemn the sale and distribution of shark fin in the city.
Catering for shark lovers, conservationists, divers, kids and those with curiosity, Sharkfest 2016 is set to be a day that you’d be crazy to miss.
