Come and tell Live and Let to fix their houses!

On Saturday 25th July ACORN Bristol are holding a demonstration outside Live n Let Letting Agents, (80 Mina Rd, St. Werburghs, Bristol, BS2 9XL) who are notorious for letting out damp, unsafe houses in various states of disrepair.

Rally in Mina Road Park at 11am to move to Live n Let for 11.15.

Three ACORN members and Easton mums all rent Live n Let properties and will be delivering letters to the agents during the demonstration demanding improvements to their homes. The houses all have serious damp problems. All 3 women have young children, one of which fell through rotting floor boards. They are paying rent for houses and not able to use all of the rooms.

One of the women’s landlords is Del Brown, owner of Live n Let and Property Options. http://delbrown.co.uk/ Del holds seminars based around his book “Making Money from Property; Bristol Fashion” in which he teaches landlords and potential investors how to maximise profit in the private rental market. It seems Del has made his millions by cutting corners when it comes to the quality and safety of the homes he rents out at his tenants’ expense.

After taking a stand with ACORN’s one house has had some work done, but this is haphazard and she has been given no schedule for its completion. Del Brown has refused to confirm proper repairs and the tenant remains concerned about the welfare of her children living in such a damp house.

After living in her house for over 10 years with her family, another woman is being evicted following several complaints about the state of the disrepair. ACORN recognises this as a revenge eviction and are calling on Live n Let and the landlord to call it off and allow them to remain in the house and fix the damp and disrepair.

Please come along and support your neighbours to tell Live n Let that they must fix these family homes and that revenge evictions will not be tolerated by the community.
