Through talks, presentations and artist interventions, this international conference will investigate new directions in collecting, exploring pubic collections of contemporary art and the stories they tell.
Using the Art Fund International scheme and Art From Elsewhere, a touring exhibition managed by Hayward Touring as a starting point, this international conference will investigate new directions in collecting, exploring a range of approaches and positions related to public collections and institutions.
By bringing together British and international experts, institution directors, artists, academic scholars and curators, the conference aims to provide greater insight into the conceptual and practical challenges related to collecting today as well as reflecting on themes in the exhibition such as migration, capital and consumerism, memory and post-colonial experience.
This event is BSL interpreted. How Global? Launch Night Thursday 23 June 2016 The evening before the conference there will be a free launch night at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
