Every day more people are waking up to climate change. But those in power have not yet woken up, or are unwilling to act. Together with thousands of others we’re heading to London, two months before the election, for a mass demonstration and wake-up call. No more half-hearted promises – it’s Time to Act on Climate Change!
Real climate action in the UK means renewables, not fossil fuels, building sustainable infrastructure through climate jobs.
2015 is a crucial year for the climate. In December, at the UN talks in Paris, world leaders aim to strike a deal to limit global emissions. So far the pledges on the table are nowhere near enough to avoid catastrophic climate change.
In September 2014 the international climate movement went back to the streets. Around 2500 people marched in Bristol, 40,000 in London, 400,000 in New York and many thousands more across the world. 2015 will be even bigger as millions more get on board.

Join us on March 7th in London.

Why? We aim to put pressure on political parties before the general election, and raise the profile of climate change. We also intend to energise and strengthen the climate movement – not an end-point but a stepping stone – it will be followed by local action immediately before the general election, the Climate Coalition lobby of Parliament in June and planning throughout 2015 towards the crucial UN talks in Paris.

What are we calling for? We want the government to act on climate change. To do enough to avoid climate chaos. This means investment in renewables – massive amounts – It means saving energy by insulating and converting all homes and all public and private buildings, a shift from cars to public transport, a dedicated workforce to create this infrastructure – one million climate jobs. And it means the UK supporting a global agreement to cut warming emissions of all kinds, speedily, with fairness and justice.

What’s the plan? The march will start in Lincoln’s Inn Fields / Malet Street, London, setting off at 1pm. Blocs including energy, divestment,  climate jobs and flooding  will reflect the causes and impacts of climate change and allow important campaigns to be highlighted, coming together in Parliament Square with one coherent call for climate action. Speakers will be followed by a mass action – set off your alarm clocks for a wake-up call!

Who’s involved? Everyone and anyone concerned about climate change. The march was initiated by the Campaign against Climate Change, who are carrying forward overall responsibility for administration, budget and logistics. But it is a coalition event, in the spirit of the People’s Climate March.
