Recently the government, including Bath MP Ben Howlett, voted to scrap all maintenance grants for students in higher education. This is a direct attack on access to education for students from poorer backgrounds, many of whom will now have the doors of higher education completely closed to them.
Without sufficient resistance from students, the marketisation of higher education and treatment of students as cash-cow-consumers is set to get far worse.
IF YOU ARE PISSED OFF ABOUT THE SCRAPPING OF GRANTS, INCREASING TUITION FEES AND THE IDEOLOGICAL ATTACK ON THE POOR BY THE GOVERNMENT, COME AND JOIN US IN THE STREET AND MAKE SOME NOISE!
WE WILL BE ASSEMBLING OUTSIDE THE ABBEY AT 12:30PM ON 20TH FEBRUARY FOR A PROTEST BEN HOWLETT CAN’T IGNORE!
BRING PLACARDS, BANNERS, NOISEY THINGS AND YOUR FRIENDS!
