Royate Hill Community Orchard
Bi-weekly volunteer workday at Royate Hill Community Orchard & Allotment – Saturday the 7th should be our last apple-pressing session of the season!
Set up over a decade ago, the Community Orchard spans several sloping plots. Initiated by Mike Feingold & friends, and still co-ordinated by Mike, there are bi-weekly workdays on Saturdays, as well as various courses and plenty of visits from other groups & projects on various days. Since 2008 some activists from Kebele social centre have worked with Mike on the project, along with numerous others from around Easton and greater Bristol.
The orchard now includes over 50 fruit trees, various berry bushes, and a food growing area at the bottom. There’s also a compost loo, greenhouse, shed, eating area & roundhouse. Plus lots of tat. And permaculture principles put into practice.
Workdays run from 11am to 4/4.30pm, with a shared lunch around 1pm. You are invited to bring vegan food to share. Wear old clothes that dont matter, it can get dirty here, and wet – if it rains too hard we can retreat to the roundhouse. So come on down.
