The world was horrified by shootings and suicide bombings that killed at least 129 people in Paris on Friday of last week.
Our sympathy is with the victims and their families and friends. Now French president Francois Hollande is taking advantage of the fear and grief to launch a clampdown at home—and more bombing in Syria.

David Cameron wants to do the same in Britain. He’s hiring more spooks to spy on us. He wants cops to “shoot to kill” on our streets. Despite austerity for public services, he’s found an extra £2 billion for the SAS. And not satisfied with bombing Iraq again, he’s desperate to join the bombing of Syria too. But Isis is the product of the West’s wars and racism.

More of the same is no solution. It will only bring more injustice, violence and death. Come to this meeting, organised by Bristol North Socialist Workers Party, to discuss the roots of such an attack, the need to stand against war, solidarity with refugees and the socialist solutions.
